Bigbucks Coffee's Renewed Commitment to Ethical Sourcing

An official update on Bigbucks Coffee's suppliers' audits, sourcing transparency dashboard, and our next steps.

To Our Customers, Employees, and Investors

Bigbucks Coffee was founded with a commitment to fair-trade coffee bean sourcing and building close relationships with small farmers with which we source. Recent audits have shown that unfortunately part of our coffee bean supply did not meet that cherished commitment. Some coffee beans were found to have been sourced from larger wholesalers with undocumented business practices. In addition our own employees felt conflicted with risking their jobs versus reporting on the issue. We are addressing and correcting these issues immediately with our customers, our employees, and our investors rather than attempting to quietly handle this.

Corrective Measures Already Underway

  • Independent supplier auditing across our entire coffee sourcing network
  • A public facing verifiable transparency dashboard containing auditing results
  • Reviewing all coffee farmer contracts for their compliance with fair-trade
  • A permanent reporting channel for employees to flag concerns with no fear of retaliation

Our Commitment Going Forward

Rebuilding trust with our customers, employees, and investors, after a failure like this will take more than issuing statements and we don't expect this page by itself to settle things. Bigbucks is committed to being held accountable through transparency and audits on a rolling basis so that everyone, from a customer buying a bag of coffee beans, to an investor reviewing our supply chain, can judge our commitment on something more than just a promise.
